History and language.

The history: Humans are thought to have arrived in Australia about 30,000 years ago. The original inhabitants, who have descendants to this day, are known as aborigines.
The aboriginal population was about 300,000.
Capitan James Cook was a Brisitsh explorer, navigator and cartographer, he reached the south eastern coast of Australia on 19th April 1770. His expedition became the first recorded that europeans have encountered. Australia's eastern coastline victoria produced more than one-third of the world's gold
The language: All the Australian population can speak English very well because this is the oficial language. However, other languages apart from Englis are also valued. In fact, more than 15 per cent of Australians speak other languages in their houses. Australianns speak more than 200 languages: Italian, Greek, Cantonese, Arabic, Vietnamese and Mandarin.
